Apple has just launched iPhone SE, its latest 4-inch iPhone in 16GB and 64GB storage versions as well as sporting the latest iOS 9.3 operating system which launches today.

iPhone SE looks the same as iPhone 5s but features a lot of machinery that you would otherwise expect in an iPhone 6s.

Specifications

Looks-wise, the iPhone SE follows the Apple design philosophy with a full-metal aluminium body which has been bead-blasted for a satin-like finish and sports matte-chamfered edges.

With this phone Apple have brought the comfort of Apple Pay to the non-flagship realm of products as apart from its latest software, the dimunitive phone can be used to pay for your journeys and lunches using Apple Pay.

The iPhone SE, despite being just 4-inch tall, sports Apple’s most formidable 64-bit A9 chip which is currently competing with the likes of Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890 in terms of performance. There’s also a M9 co-processor to let you multi-task and perform your daily smartphone tasks easily.

The main camera is a 12-MP iSight one with Retina flash and Live Photos, basically the same camera that we recently saw on the iPhone 6s. The iPhone SE captures videos in 4K and you will be able to run two simultaneous 4K videos in iMovies app.

iPhone SE also brings in some massive improvements over the similarly sized iPhone 5s. The latest A9 chip makes it 50 per cent faster than the latter and the Wi-Fi compatibility is three times as fast as well.

iPhone SE offers LTE speeds of up to 150 Mbps including Wi-Fi calling and Voice over LTE functionality and you can even run up your download speed to up to 433 Mbps over Wi-Fi.

If you still own an iPhone 5s, iPhone SE brings you the same look and feel along with the superior performance of iPhone 6s.

The SE further sports a new feature called Night Shift that uses the geolocation of the phone and the time on the clock to automatically adjust the colours in the display to the warmer end of the spectrum after dark and may even help you get a better night’s sleep.

Pricing

The 16GB and 64GB variants of iPhone SE will retail at prices starting at £359 and EE, Vodafone and Three have already announced that they will be ranging the device.

Availability

You will be able to pre-order your iPhone SE starting March 24 and the iPhone will be available to purchase from Apple Stores and retailers from April 1.
